Friday Fruits: Strawberries


These luscious fruits are full of vitamins, including vitamin C and antioxidants; they contain no fat, sodium or cholesterol. They do contain calories, an average serving – about 8 strawberries – has approximately 50 calories. Although delicious with fresh cream, it's the cream that will make the calorific values soar; so if you're going to include them in your diet resist the temptation of eating them with cream!

Strawberries are a versatile fruit and can be eaten cold when fresh or hot in deserts and puddings, although they do go very mushy when cooked.

You can also get dried strawberries making them a versatile fruit to include in your diet. Although the vitamin content is lower then eating fresh strawberries.
